Mosaic is CISV’s local community-based program for participants of all ages. Mosaic can be anything from a one-off event to a year-long project.
Mosaic projects are planned and delivered by our Chapters, using CISV’s educational approach, and each one responds to local needs and interests in a meaningful way. Most projects are designed and run in cooperation with partner organizations to further the benefit to the local community.
Being part of a Mosaic project is a real-life learning experience that will have a lasting impact and, if you’re new to CISV, it’s a great way to get involved!
In 2016, we partnered with Generations to Generations (G2G) and the Jewish Association for Aging, to engage seniors in an exciting Casino Night. Volunteers helped seniors play games ranging from roulette to blackjack. We are excited about our new partnership with this awesome organization and look forward to future events.
In 2015, CISV Pittsburgh worked with AJAPO (Acculteration for Justice, Access, and Peace Outreach) for a year-long Mosaic project. Several CISV families met with locally resettled refugee families to welcome them to Pittsburgh. In addition, we held several supply drives for specific needs in the refugee community. To honor Peace One Day and the International Day of Peace, CISV Pittsburgh sponsored a soccer game with a local organization, Children of Shangri-Lost.
Since 2014, CISV Pittsburgh has been a proud sponsor and volunteer provider for World Refugee Day.
